01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled right on the scenic Gulf Intracoastal Canal in Gulf Shores, Alabama, LuLu's Gulf Shores offers a vibrant blend of family-friendly dining, fresh seafood delights, and a charming souvenir shop—all under one roof. The restaurant’s coastal vibe is instantly welcoming, with breezy dockside seating that perfectly complements its waterfront locale and casual, laid-back atmosphere. Whether you’re craving a hearty meal or just a fun place to unwind with friends and family, LuLu’s delivers on all fronts.

Seafood lovers will find themselves truly spoiled here. The menu reads like a love letter to the Gulf’s bounty, showcasing dishes that burst with fresh, authentic flavors. Highlights include the Fried Crab Claws, a generous basket of large blue crab claws fried to golden perfection, offering a crispy exterior that gives way to sweet, succulent meat. If chilled seafood is more your style, the Peel and Eat Shrimp—wild-caught right from the Gulf—arrive perfectly tender and fresh. For a Southern twist, the award-winning Fried Green Tomatoes served with LuLu’s signature Wow Sauce™ are an irresistible starter, boasting a delicate crunch and tangy finish that diners rave about.

Fans of bold, flavorful dips will be drawn to the Smoked Tuna Dip, crafted in-house with freshly smoked yellowfin tuna that has never seen the inside of a can—offering an authentically smoky sweetness that elevates every chip. The tortilla chips themselves are a canvas for a trio of standouts: LuLu's Sassy Salsa™, creamy White Cheddar Queso, and the ever-popular “Holy Guacamole!” combining for a fiesta of flavors in every bite.

Mains are just as enticing. The Key West Bowl offers versatile options—grilled, blackened, or fried grouper and jumbo shrimp sit atop fresh ingredients, delivering a taste of coastal paradise in every forkful. Chicken tenders here are equally celebrated, whether enjoyed grilled, blackened, or fried, making them a hit with families and kids alike. For a lighter yet satisfying choice, the grilled or blackened mahi mahi dishes shine with tender flakes and subtle smoky notes.

More than just food, LuLu’s thrives as a lively spot to soak up local charm. Reviewers praise the energetic live music and the fantastic bar scene, with a great selection of tropical cocktails and local brews. One guest fondly recalls the unbeatable hush puppies and phenomenal onion rings, while another highlights the vibrant outdoor spaces perfect for group gatherings or relaxing dockside with a crisp craft IPA. Friendly service and knowledgeable bartenders, like Zach, add a personal touch, enhancing the warm, community feel that permeates LuLu’s.

Beyond the plate, LuLu’s includes a souvenir store, letting visitors carry a slice of Gulf Shores back home. It's the perfect place to browse unique coastal-inspired keepsakes that echo the fun memories made here.

In sum, LuLu's Gulf Shores is more than just a restaurant—it’s a celebration of Gulf Coast hospitality and flavors. From fresh seafood indulgences and bold dips to refreshing drinks and a spirited atmosphere overlooking the water, it’s a must-visit culinary destination that promises genuine fun, warmth, and deliciousness for the whole family.

Live music was great tonight!! Appetizers were good - best cheese dip and chips ever!! And the onion rings were phenomenal!! We had fried chicken tenders and a grilled chicken tender meal, a jumbo shrimp meal (which were good, but definitely not jumbo ), also a hamburger with pepper jack cheese. The fries were good. Definitely the best hush puppies we've ever eaten!!!!! We will definitely be back!!

LuLu’s Gulf Shores is located on the Gulf Intracoastal Canal by the WC Holmes Memorial Bridge, with full views of the canal and the Homeport Marina. There’s a lot of water here, which is unsurprising given Jimmy and Lucy Buffet’s love of the ocean and coastal landscapes. Full Disclosure: we had lunch during the off season. My pictures show lots of open tables and empty activities. I overheard a bartender, completely non-busy with one customer, tell said customer that while it’s quiet now, in the summer it’s CRAZY. He is correct. This is a famous Gulf Shores tourist destination built to handle Spring Break and summer crowds. They don’t take reservations, so good luck in the summer. Off season starts in November and runs up until March. Our lunch was very good. Our waiter, Quinten, was excellent and a hard worker. It was a 76 degree November day with sunny skies and super low humidity. Lunch by the canal was really nice. They have a large, clean bathroom with 6 stalls to handle all the summer tourists. We stopped in the gift shop on the way back to the car. Don’t miss out on this. The two ladies working here were so nice and friendly; we talked for a while. I bought a T-shirt for $20. The gift shop is stocked with really great looking shirts and fun souvenirs. There’s an arcade, two ropes courses, and sand everywhere to entertain kids. There’s a stage for bands when it’s busier. There’s good reasons why LuLu’s is still in business after all these years. Go see for yourself.

Bar only experience, but that was good. Great setup for a group get-together with outdoor spaces & dockside seating. Drinks/cocktails we had were very good - the Hoppy By Nature IPA was my favorite discovery… just a wonderful ale with the South/Gulf characteristics just pow ! With fresh hop-tropical flavors.

We stopped at Lulu's for lunch. We were greeted immediately and chose to sit at the bar. Definitely very casual with a costal vibe . They several tropical drinks to choose from i choose the hurricane and my boyfriend had a local beer (FairHope). Zach was our bartender/server. He was fantastic and very friendly. He gave us some great recommendations to check out while we are in town as well. I chose the shrimp po boy / gumbo combo which came with fries. My boyfriend had the Grouper tacos that came with chips and salsa. Everything was fresh and delicious!! We will definitely be returning in the future!

We came here while visiting Gulf Shores and I'm so glad we did! The fried food was particularly good, including the crab claws (my family's favorite), the onion rings, and even the French fries were good! Our server was great with making recommendations, and we enjoyed the relaxing vibe. Next time we come back to visit, we'll definitely be stopping here again!

Very much a Tourist place! But the food was good (I had the shrimp nachos) Service was a little slow...from taking our beverage order to bring us our bill and every step in between. Lots to walk around and see and things for kids to do while you wait.

Such a fun place! Great atmosphere with nice views of the water to watch boats and birds. If you have a food allergy this place is for you! Was amazing all the precautions they take to ensure your food is prepared properly. Being gluten free made me feel at ease to eat here. Our waiter Christopher was awesome and the manager was very entertaining. and helpful. We liked it so much we ate there twice during our week stay. Highly recommend the unicorn fish and Texas margarita! If you have room The mango sorbet was delicious! Definitely will be back.
